No regular classes are offered by the Department of Chemistry during the summer term.

Current MIT undergraduate students can take arranged-unit subjects such as Undergraduate Research Opportunities Program (UROP), Special Topics, Internship, or Thesis during the Summer Session by prior arrangement with a faculty member. All continuing MIT graduate students register for 5.THG (graduate thesis). The Department of Chemistry provides guidance to students on the exact number of units. Registered MIT graduate students may also take arranged-unit special problems subjects during the Summer Session by prior arrangement with a faculty member.
