Short Programs
MIT Professional Education's Short Programs offer more than 40 professional development courses in two- to five-day intensive sessions, plus four professional certificate programs each summer. Topics include biomanufacturing and life sciences, AI and robotics, data science and machine learning, engineering leadership, energy and sustainability, materials engineering and advanced manufacturing, and professional communications. Each course brings together MIT's groundbreaking research, hands-on learning, and faculty expertise. Insights from industry leaders, government professionals, and leading academics mean attendees leave with actionable knowledge.
Short Programs draws attendees from across the United States and around the world. About 30 percent are international; another 20 percent come from New England states. Most are mid-career professionals in technical, scientific, business, and government roles.
Everyone who completes a Short Program receives a Certificate of Completion from MIT. Participants can also earn Continuing Education Units (CEUs) based on learning contact hours listed on each course's page. Those looking for a full credential can enroll in one of four Professional Certificate Programs: Innovation and Technology, Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence, Design and Manufacturing, and Biomanufacturing. Each is designed to be completed within three years.
